New Weird Australia presents
& special guest PIMMON
FRIDAY 4TH NOVEMBER 2011
BLACK WIRE, 219 Parramatta Rd, Annandale, Sydney
Rites Wild from Adelaide makes monotone pop with 80′s analogue keys and good intentions. “sits nicely alongside Maria Minerva, Fabulous Diamonds and Nite Jewel… Rites Wild cloaks ritualistic minimalism in foggy casio drones, stony delivery, and lush synth delays” – Altered Zones
(with members of Guerre, Collarbones and Marseilles)
Black Vanilla is the brainchild of gender-bending beatmaker Romeo aka Juliet, convicted ladykiller Extra Smooth aka The Sex and slutty ho-bag Sean Lockhart, creating the most reprehensible R’n’B boyband supergroup of the 21st century. Borrowing from only the sleaziest and most disgusting 90s R’n’B reference points Black Vanilla will get you wet in the whitest possible fashion.
Over the past decade and a half, Australia’s electronic godfather Pimmon (known to friends as Paul Gough) has carved out a unique space for himself through producing a series of masterfully executed excursions into abstract electronic sound. His new release The Oansome Orbit is out this month on Room40.
Directed & edited by Tessa C. Stevens for The Pyramid Scheme.
